Programs: Healthcare Access

Farmworkers often experience occupational injuries and illnesses that go untreated due to various challenges accessing the U.S. healthcare system. We work with community partners to enhance access to health care services for migratory and seasonal agricultural workers (MSAWs) and their families through the development of resources and the provision of training and technical assistance to health centers.

According to health center data, approximately 25 percent of MSAWs and their family members seek health care at a health center. Health centers that serve MSAWs and their families receive federal funds under Section 330(g) of the Public Health Service Act. Farmworker Justice is a National Training and Technical Assistance Partner (NTTAP) funded by HRSA to improve health outcomes for MSAWs and their families.

We work with community partners to author and publish resources including booklets, fact sheets and brochures to infrom MSAWs about how to navigate the healthcare system to get the care they need. We also provide trainings through webinars and presentations to health centers and other community organizations.
