Thank you to everyone who came and supported Farmworker Justice at the Farmworker Justice Los Angeles Awards. The evening was hosted by Actor Annie Gonzalez (“Gentefied”), with powerful remarks by Ron Estrada, Farmworker Justice CEO. Pepe Serna (“With Love,” “Flamin’ Hot”) gave a moving performance of “A Poem for the Farmworker,” and the iconic Charo co-hosted the live auction with David Damian Figueroa. The evening also featured performances by the Inlakech Cultural Arts Center/Lucha, Inc. Youth Mariachi.
Decor, featuring giant catrinas, was designed by Ricardo Soltero. Guests added to the celebratory atmosphere by dressing in Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera attire. At the FJ Mercado, a portion of the proceeds benefited FJ.
Thank you to our award presenters, including Emilio Rivera, Renee Victor, Taylor Hackford and Linda Ronstadt. We congratulate our honorees – DeVon Franklin, Teresa Romero, Shura Wallin, and Enrique Castillo – for their achievements and dedication to the farmworker community.
